Brian Cassagnol and the Harriet Street Band rocked out at the Paradise Lounge tonight in Boston. I got a invitation to see the band with my friends from college, Steve Walker, his wife Gail, along with Willaim and Mary, Steve's kids. I don't go to rock clubs very often anymore, but I have lots of experience with the genre, having spent most of my youth at the Boston Tea Party, the Ark, and the Psychedelic Supermarket. Harriet Street rocked out, I loved the passion, the lyrics and the musicianship of this band. Check them out! (BTW, sorry about the picture, it's from my cameraphone)
All of sudden, and I don't know why, my Windows version of iTunes 4.6 stopped recognizing the CD drive and would not play or import CDs. The Apple Support site was useless. So....I've been researching this for some time and finally I discoverd an answer. Here is the error message that kept coming up:

Then I got this much more "Severe" error when I tried to reload the app:

And finally I got a clue:

iTunes uses Gear Software drivers to read and write to CDs.
You can find the updated drivers at GEAR Drivers
Downloading and installing these drivers fixed my problem!
Charlie Mingus is my favorite jazz artist. The complexity of the orchestration and especially the way he uses trombones in his band completely blows me away. Whenever I am in NYC, I go to see the Mingus Big Band. There are a number of good sites on Mingus; the one I mentioned in the title of this post, The Charlie Mingus Home Page, and a discography on Amazon.
As I listen, I will post the albums on the left hand side of this blog.
